If we can’t fix it, you don’t pay
Covington's larger, wooded-lot homes take serious cooling to keep comfortable through a Northshore summer — and when the AC fails, it's felt fast. Tegridy Air provides same-day air conditioning repair across Covington and St. Tammany Parish, with 24/7 phone coverage at (504) 414-8655. Family- and friend-owned, with 30+ years of combined experience.
AC problems we fix in Covington
- No cooling or warm air — low refrigerant, a failing compressor, or a fouled coil.
- One zone or floor not cooling while another is fine — common in larger two-story homes.
- Frozen coils from humidity and restricted airflow.
- Capacitor and contactor failures, and lightning-surge damage on wooded lots.
- Outdoor units choked with oak and pine debris from the tree canopy.
Built for bigger homes
Many Covington homes run two systems or a zoned setup to cover the square footage, which means more places for something to go wrong — and more reason to get the diagnosis right. We test the whole system, identify exactly which component or zone has failed, and give you a written price before any work. Our trucks carry the parts that fail most, so the majority of repairs are done in one visit.
What AC repair costs in Covington
- Diagnostic / service call: $75–$150
- Capacitor replacement: $150–$400
- Refrigerant recharge: $200–$650+ (older R-22 systems cost more)
- Blower or condenser fan motor: $300–$700 (ECM/variable-speed motors can run $1,000+)
- Compressor replacement: $1,200–$2,800
On an older system where a big repair doesn't add up, we'll lay out replacement and financing honestly rather than throw money at a failing unit.

AC repair FAQs
How fast can you reach Covington?
Same-day in most cases, with 24/7 emergency service for no-cool calls.
One floor is hot and the other is fine — why?
In a zoned or two-system home that usually points to a failed component on one system or a zone-damper issue. We'll isolate it rather than guess.
Repair or replace?
Under ~10 years with an affordable fix, repair; older units with a dead compressor are usually better replaced. We'll show you the math.
Do you charge for diagnostics?
A flat fee covers the inspection, and you approve the repair price first.
What Our Customers Say About Us
Honest Voices, Honest Service
“Absolutely amazing experience! With the recent heatwave my ac was just not keeping up. I was able to schedule a same day appointment for a system checkup. They quickly found the problem and fixed it. Within the hour I had a fully functioning ac again. The technicians were incredibly friendly and explained everything they were doing and described the problems in a way I could easily understand. The price was incredibly reasonable. After work was complete they even stayed a while to ensure everything was working as intended. I can’t recommend these guys enough. They will be the only company I call from here on out”
“Very professional, great service. I can’t say enough about how great these guys are. They responded right away and had my air blowing the coldest it’s ever been. I will recommend them to anyone who needs A/C work done.”
“I called them on a service call. Because my HVAC was not working. I had a quick response and they sent out a technician. He diagnosed it and repaired it within the hour. Quality service and reasonably priced. I would definitely use them again!”
“Alex and his crew always do a great job, super friendly, and are very fair with their pricing. They are thorough and make sure to explain what they are doing, why they are doing it, and how it will help. They never push products or services on me and will happily answer any questions. My ac went out yesterday, I called at ~4:40pm and they showed up a few minutes later. They resolved the issue quickly and explained what had happened. Highly recommend.”
